Light Projection Show

The Northern Australia Biosecurity Strategy (NABS) is all about testing new and innovative ways of communicating with the community, building capacity, and enhancing biosecurity outcomes for northern Australia.

In 2025, we trialled something completely new. A light projection show that aimed to raise community awareness about biosecurity in a fun and appealing way. The show involved using animation to illustrate four of the key threats to northern Australia – avian influenza, citrus greening, lumpy skin disease, and charru mussels.

The event was held at the Darwin Waterfront, which saw a broad cross section of the community attend, many of whom have very little understanding of biosecurity. We estimate that as many as 500 people attended the event – all who now have a better understanding of biosecurity!

Through the light show, Anima Co tested novel communication methods to educate and raise awareness within the community in a fun and entertaining way. And hopefully, in the process, we will create a whole new demographic of biowarriors!
