The Challenge

The Challenge is to design and create a computer game that shows the importance of biosecurity measures in protecting Northern Territory communities, wildlife, and plants from diseases and invasive species. The intent of the game is to help players learn about managing biosecurity risks, especially in Northern Australia.

Who Can Join?

Secondary school students in Years 7 to 9 from any Northern Territory school can participate. Students can work individually or in a group of up to 4 members with comprising students from the same school. A school is welcome to submit multiple entries.

What Biosecurity Topics Can Students Explore?

  • Plant Health – Highlight the importance of protecting NT plants and crops from pests and diseases.
  • Wildlife Protection – Help protect NT’s unique animals by preventing diseases and invasive species.
  • Community Safety – Teach players how proper hygiene and quarantine practices keep NT communities safe.
  • Quarantine Practices – Demonstrate real-life quarantine measures used in the NT to prevent the spread of harmful organisms.
