Pest Interception Workshop

In September, a Pest Interception Workshop was held in direct response to stakeholder feedback received at the Northern Australia Biosecurity Strategy (NABS) Strategic Planning Workshop in July.

The workshop brought together industry and government representatives to share information on insect pests detected at the Australian border over the past six months.

This data is important for guiding planning and preparedness activities, strengthening surveillance, and supporting proactive biosecurity measures. Stakeholders also noted the value of this information to educate growers, raising awareness about pests of concern and reinforcing why strong biosecurity practices matter.

The workshop was strongly endorsed, with 100% of participants rating it as valuable or extremely valuable and all indicating they would attend future sessions.

This workshop emphasises the NABS commitment to listening to our stakeholders and delivering initiatives based on their needs and requirements.
