What happens when the job that has been such a big part of your identity is no longer there?

That was the starting point for today’s Women’s Leadership Network – Life Beyond panel.

We were incredibly fortunate to hear from Nicole Manison, Jodie Ryan and Michaela Nutt, who each shared very different experiences of moving beyond significant roles and into new chapters.

We talked about:

→ How do you work out what you actually want next?
→ What do you need to let go of to make room for something different?
→ How do you recognise when something isn’t right — and what does it take to change direction?
→ What happens when the path you expected doesn’t quite work out?
→ Has your definition of success changed?
→ And what does a fulfilling life look like when work is no longer the whole story?

What made the conversation so valuable wasn’t simply the career moves they had made. It was their willingness to be honest, open and real about the uncertainty, the doubts, the unexpected turns and the things they had learned along the way.

There was no neat formula for finding the “next chapter”. Just three very different stories about making choices, reassessing what matters and being prepared to change direction.

It was a privilege to hear the panel’s stories — and a wonderful reminder that sometimes the most interesting chapters begin when we step beyond the role we thought would define us.
